Studio Liddell

After going to Meet the Experts, I became familiar with some studios that I didn't know a lot about. One of these was Studio Liddell which is based in Manchester. I had luckily managed to keep up communication with Tracy Liddell and she was extremely kind and helpful. She told me to make sure I kept contacting her every couple of months, because she had a feeling that the studio may soon be in need for some character and background designers. Naturally, this encouraged me to read up on this studio and find out exactly what they specialise in.

The studio is primarily 3D based & produces work for children's entertainment as well advertisement. The fact that they are very much 3d based did not put me off, because the fact that I am more 2D based didn't seem to be an issue for Tracy, especially if I wanted to focus on preproduction.

My Thoughts on Studio Liddell's work

I found their work to be very mixed, which I thought was a good thing, and this in my opinion could be why they are so successful. Although they worked mostly in 3D, there did appear to be a range of mediums particularly in their advertising reel, which suggests they are quite diverse. Also, they appeared to have done advertisement for a huge range of brands, therefore I think they are very adaptable as a studio.

This has encouraged me not to get too stuck to one style, and to try and remain lenient in what I can produce, because this allows me to be more employable and more suited to a wider range of roles. Becoming familiar with this studio definitely encouraged me continue doing what I enjoy, because as a studio it seemed very accepting, regardless of the fact that I a not hugely experienced in 3D.
