Job Hunting

As it got to February, I started to apply for jobs. This was something I was nervous about doing but it had to be done. I frequently used AnimationJobs and AnimationBase to look for vacancies. I wasn't even 100% sure at the start what job roles I was aiming for. I knew that I was capable of working in 2D animation that required knowledge of Photoshop, After Effects of Flash. I was also keeping an eye out for any jobs based around pre-production.

I found myself applying for quite a few design based jobs for game animation, however some of the job descriptions seemed to fit me and my capabilities very well, so I went for it anyway! Since I was struggling to keep track of where I had applied, and weather or not I had been successful/ unsuccessful, I decided to keep a document which had updated notes on each application I had sent out.

This was by far one of the best things I could have done, because I found it so much easier to keep track of al of my job applications. I was also then able to quickly and easily make note of any feedback given, or any unsuccessful applications.

Where Did I Apply?

In terms of where I wanted to apply, I decided to stick mostly to the UK for the time being. Although I am eager to travel and am very open to the possibility of working abroad, my priority at this point in time is to gain some industry experience and take as much from it as I possibly can. Therefore I decided not to send lots of applications abroad simply because I would like to move away with more than just my degree under my belt.

However, I did send some applications to Ireland, because there were some job roles at Boulder Media that would have been great for me. I was also willing to move to pretty much anywhere in the UK if necessary, so I also applied for multiple job roles in Brighton.
